The night of the Fall City Arts annual fundraiser was a memorable evening. Over 100 guests arrived in festive attire, to join in a celebration and help raise money for the FCA 2005-2006 arts lineup.
The festivities were held in a local Fall City home which included an area provided by a large outdoor tent filled with lights, candles and glorious stone sculpture from local artist Craig Breitbach. Too bad the weather was uncooperative, hailing throughout the day left piles of the ice on the rockery and while it added to the glow of the evening, it was a bit cold. There were plenty of spirits to warm you upon coming inside and the food consisting of many delicious hor doerves flowed plentifully to satisfy both the sweet & savory appetites.
Inside the visual artists included stunning photography by David & Teresa Shahbaghlian, beautiful watercolors by both student and teacher (Lolly Shera and Susan Jenkins respectively), alluring abstract acrylics (Anapurna Madrone), classic oils (Cary Jurriaans), a spiritual graphite pencil drawing (Sherry Christen) and a fascinating variety of sculpture of many different mediums (Steve Sandry, Patrick McGuire). The evening was highlighted by an incredible vocal performance (MaryJo Dugaw and Kathryn Weld) with famous pianist/composer, George Shangrow as accompanist and finished with a fun film by a local filmmaker, Phil Seneker. We were also treated with the presence of local author and tree house designer, Peter Nelson and local author JoDee Seneker who were selling their books. All the art was for sale during the evening with the artists donating 15% of the sales to Fall City Arts. We sold five pieces or art, numerous books and a video of the film!
The fundraiser was not so much a "fundraiser" as it was an evening of a sudden awareness that Fall City is surrounded by artists with talent and people who value their gift.
